Chemistry

And now for chemistry, and Mrs Evil-Twin. Yes, you know who I mean. She with her trademark fringe and devil-may-care attitude towards leaving us without supervision whilst conducting an experiment. Did you know she had a twin? Thanks to this information, we can discover that there really is such a thing as good-twin/bad-twin. This teacher likes to go off on tangents, spend ten minutes of a 50-minute lesson complaining about how we waste time, and lets not forget leaving us outside in the corridor for up to fifteen minutes before she actually arrives. But there are three things that make her really special.

Number 1 - She enjoys setting us tests to do in lessons and for homework. Before we've done that topic. Oh, and the actual tests? She can set the same one two, three times without realising. The next day.

Number 2 - I mentioned it earlier. She will, with no explanation, randomly leave the classroom at any given time. It may be while we're all busy working, it may be while we're marking from the board, it may be while she's reading the answers to us. Or it may be, as mentioned earlier, while we are in the middle of a chemistry experiment. This, folks, is what is termed 'illegal'.

Number 3 - Mrs Evil-Twin has a...hearing problem. No, she's not deaf; sometimes she can hear people whispering from across the classroom. At other times, however, she's hopeless. She will scold a pupil (often by the wrong name) for talking, when in reality the culprit is sitting miles away. Or there's no culprit at all. Sometimes, the whole class literally has to shout to get her attention. And she blames it on one person.

German

Don't get me wrong, okay? I love the German language. It is by far teh cooliest, but then some people come along and say ruin it for me. Not mentioning any names, eh? *cough* Mrs Ham *cough* ... you know who I mean. Bad enough she can't control the rest of the class, and tries to use year 7 tricks to do so (and then blames us for her having to use year 7 'techniques') but honestly, she is duller than ditchwater. A phrase which doesn't make sense, but that's beside the point. So, here is a list of Mre Ham's wonderful teaching skills:
  • 'There's too much noise, so you'll have to work in silence!' - Because year 11 are just going to sit meekly and accept that. Riiiiiight. Then she goes on to number two;
  • 'If you want to know something in German, put your hand up and ask me!' - Yes folks, she obviously forgets lesson to lesson that this is too many questions for her to answer quickly. So we get bored, our arms get tired, and we ask our neighbours. As a result, we get threatened with;
  • 'If you don't stop talking, I'll put your name on the board!' - Ooh scary! Seriously, how is that even meant to be a threat. Another one she is fond of is;
  • 'You're wasting time! If you carry on, I'll take five minutes out of your lunch break.' -But it's okay, because she never actually does this. And besides, by asking our neighbours for help we're actually saving time!

If you're gonna threaten us, Mrs Ham, do it properly. Or better yet, be a better and more interesting teacher so that you don't have to threaten us!

Freedom

No more exams!! *does happy dance*
And it's snowing! A perfect symbol of newly found freedom after the opression and stress of exams...or somthing like that, anyway.

Hurstpierpoint

Did NO REVISION yesterday, thanks to a trip to Hurst. Went around all the subjects I'm considering; Clasical Civilisations, RS, Philosophy, Chemistry, Physics and Maths. The Clas. Civ. guy was awesome! He had a pinstriped suit with matching waistcoat...he even had a pocket watch! Oh, and his tie was yellow with purple spots on! It was nearly at a level with Mr Clay and Mr Hoare's...but not quite.

What's with all the rain, anyhow? It's meant to snow, not be all wet and icky!

Snowmen

Snowmen make me sad. I was so proud of Super-Steve, but now his arms are melting. Mini-Steves 1 and 2 are little piles of snow, and poor, poor Laurence is just a smear on the ground. He went from being buried to being vapourised in a matter of days. Dad's snowman Jaques has litterally lost his head, and even my brother's Tommy Gun has a missing head. Clarissa's nurce is fairing admirably well - she's short and fat, so she has a smaller surface area...who knew, physics actually does come in hands from time to time! But apparently every winter from now on is going to be like this, so the Steves will be resurrected!!

Snow vs. School

Day 1: snow 1, school 0
Day 2: snow 2, school 0
Day three: snow 3, school 1
Saturday
Sunday
Day six: snow 4.5, school 2
Day seven: snow 4.5, school 3
Day eight: snow 5, school 4.
Come on, snow! Don't let the school win!

Snow day three

Went into school today...for the four hours it was on anyways. Did some science revision, which is good...but I really need to make a snowman.

Urgh, haven't recovered fully from yesterday; pushing Dad's car up our 120 metre drive. Which is going up a hill. Made of ice. Fun fun!

So yeah, school was just for year 11s, tho only about half of us turned up. I got cocoa, which made me happy!

Snow Update

Haven't been outside yet. Dad's making me stay inside and study! :(
Going to try after lunch...which we should really be having soon. Now, while I'm thankful to the snow for closing my school, I wish it wasn't bad enough to cancel trains into London - Dad's at home, and he's in full 'work mode'. While most folks are out enjoying the snow, I've got 6 hours of revision to do, my sister (who is nine) had to do some work in a maths book MY DAD BOUGHT FOR HER, and my brother had to do two hours of work. He's still on holiday, coz he goes to a private school - Handcross Park. He got 4 WEEKS for Christmas, and his half-term holidays are two weeks long. Not fair!

Snow

So much snow! It started snowing last night and hasn't stopped since! And it got me off school :)
According to Dad, some people last night had to stop driving it was so bad, so the council put up temporary shelters for them. This is the second time it's snowed significantly this winter, the first time being in December, which I can't believe. Snow! Before Christmas! It closed all the schools in the area, except mine. :( But this time even my school is closed. Snow is my new best friend! Out of my window, all the trees are coated with a layer of white. It's very pretty, especially the feathery trees. It's still snowing quite heavily!
Iga, my Polish friend, doesn't see why everyone is so obsessive about the snow here in the UK. But it's sooo pretty! Anyways, they have heavy snow every year, so they can plan ahead for it.
Wow! We have a massive tree in our garden, a holmoake, I think it's spelt, and a really big branch just fell off of it due to all the snow. It's native to warmer countries, so I guess it's not used to that much additional weight. The other trees seem OK though.
